About the Event
Tom Morrison, former six-term Illinois state representative from 2011 to 2022, is our guest speaker to discuss candidate selection, training and campaigning at ROEGT’s general member meeting on Saturday, July 15 at 9 am at the Elk Grove Township Hall.
Following his lengthy service in the statehouse, Tom joined advocacy group Big Tent Coalition in January 2023 as vice president of candidate recruitment and training.
A graduate of Hillsdale College with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in communications, Tom began his career as a radio news reporter and anchor. From 1998-2004, he taught fifth grade at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights. Later, as a successful small businessman, he owned and operated two ServPro businesses for six years in the northwest suburbs before entering the political arena.
Tom was widely recognized and lauded as “the tax fighter” and an unending advocate of pension reform in Springfield and came to be known as one of the most effective “retail” politicians ever to hold office in Illinois. He is uniquely qualified to discuss candidate recruitment, preparation and campaigning as we begin to turn our attention to the 2024 election cycle and the March 2024 Illinois primary.
